An “extreme adventurer” has been running the region’s coast this week as part of the first-ever attempt at an “ultra triathlon” around the British mainland.

Sean Conway hopes to become the first to cycle, run and swim around the entire island. The 35-year-old, from Zimbabwe, also wants to inspire others to take on challenges.
“If you have a big idea just go out and give it a go, you will be surprised how much you are able to do,” he said.
The adventurer, who set off on the 14-week challenge from Dorset on April 1, has completed the cycling leg and will be running as far as Brighton, averaging 35 miles a day, before taking the plunge for the final 110-mile swimming section.

He said he received “huge support” from people in the region.
